The term "web design" can have several meanings.
On the one hand, it can conjure up mysterious ideas, leading many people to think that it is beyond their abilities, and their pocketbooks, to even consider having their own web site.
Web design can also be seen as an overly simple endeavor, so that anyone can have a web site that wants one, no matter how it looks or how it functions.
In between those two meanings ... there is a whole lot of room. |
Anyone Can Have a Web Site, Right?
With technology the way it is today, the availability of the internet increasing every day, and the range of online tools and resources that are accessible by many innovative persons and companies ... the truth is that anyone that wants a web site can have one.
However, just because the tools are there to make creating a web site possible, it does not necessarily follow that novices should undertake the effort to "build their own." There are some things that should be known before undertaking a web design project and, like so many other areas of life, experience is a great teacher.
Focused on my Strengths ... Keeping It Simple
One of the things that my experience has taught me is that I need to focus on my strengths, and I need to keep things simple. There are many fancy things that can be done with a web site. Some of those bells and whistles are really good things, and they contribute vitally to the look and feel and function of the site. However, getting too fancy can sometimes complicate things too much, and can take away the focus of the viewer, sending them in search of another site that will meet their needs.

I Really Enjoy Small Business
Since I really enjoy small business and I have a lot of experiene working with them, I have found that this is the major area where I should spend my time.
Small business owners need something that works. They often want to start small and then expand as their business grows. Sure, they want their web site to look nice and they need it to work correctly - those are givens. However, they don't need to waste money on fluff. Their business is their lifeblood. They are focused on things that improve and grow their business and allow them to support their family. That's the American dream.
This is what I do and it is what I am. SpotOn•WebSites is a small business itself and I am endeavoring to live the American dream just like the clients I serve. If this sounds like you, too, and you want to work with someone who is cut from the same cloth as you, then we probably need to talk.
Let's Talk

Use my quick contact form to give me some initial thoughts about your project, and I will get in touch with you to talk about how I might be able to help you.
